On the 20th December, Summerhouse Equestrian Centre hosted its annual Christmas gymkhana for its Pony Club members. This was attended by 14 very excited children ranging from 7 – 15 years. The children arrived ready for the event in their own specially designed costumes, from Santa suits to pirates with tinsel and sparkles galore!
The event was open to Pony Club and non Pony Club members. Once the children had arrived this was where the real fun started! The ponies were decorated with tinsel, ribbons, colourful under blankets and made to look very Christmassy!
The gymkhana was a fun packed afternoon of musical games and races such as “Monte Carlo”. There was a fancy dress competition with little pirate Francesca on Chester taking the 1st place rosette and Milly on Thomas taking the 2nd place rosette. All the other children received a rosette for taking part in the gymkhana.
The event was the final part of a busy year for the Summerhouse Pony Club team and they are looking forward to another fun packed year in 2012.
Please have a look at our Pony Club calendar on our website for more information on Pony Club events.

Summerhouse Non-Riding Pony Club
The Summerhouse non-riding club was launched on the 31st October with a Halloween Party. This party was attended by 15 children between the ages of 6- 13 years and was a welcome event for the new weekly club.
Summerhouse currently host Pony Camps and days during the year, but this is a new initiative to have a weekly club that meant that Pony Club members and non Pony Club members can get together more often, have fun, be able to achieve more badges and have more contact with the ponies. There is older group for 9 – 13 year olds and a younger group for 6-8 year olds. So far they have drawn and coloured so many lovely pictures of themselves and their favourite ponies which are displayed in classroom 1; been allocated their very own pony for the term to use when doing practical sessions; learnt the points of the pony; learnt all about yard; home and out-and-about safety and earned their first badges….. Next badges to do are grooming and then it’s the Xmas party to look forward to!
Congratulations to Millie, Hana, Alice, Sophia & Charlotte for passing Points of the Pony!
And congratulations to Bradley, Annie-Mae Jaz, Hannah, Madeline, Caitlin, Courtney, Isabelle, Tallulah, Abi & Jenny for passing Security Awareness!
