Christmas Gymkhana took place on Christmas Eve with a brilliant turn out. 22 children attended aged 4-12 years with a mixture of Pony Club members, Summerhouse Riding School members and some new comers. Even the miniature ponies joined in and the cold weather did not deter the fun & games and fun was had by all in Christmas Fancy dress costumes. Barbie, Sparkle, Beauty and Tinkerbell, our American Miniature Ponies!

Standing at around 29" high, these teeny tiny ponies have been brought into the centre to encourage both adults and children to enjoy horses as much as we all do. With the 2012 Olympic just around the corner, it is a prime opportunity to get everyone involve in the sport that we love, equestrianism.

American Miniatures are a very kind and quiet natured breed and like a lot of fuss and attention. With them being so small, we are able to provide a safer environment that is less intimidating to nervous children and adults.

We willl be providing schools with the opportunity to come and see the ponies and have talks and grooming sessions as part of their learning process. They will be available for children's parties of all ages – children will be able to groom them, play dress up, we will have glitter hoof oil, glitter coat shine, ribbons, tutu's, flowers, bows etc which the children will be able to dress their own pony up with. They then can take the ponies indoors or out for lead rein games and lead rein agility jump and obstacle races – where the children can run and lead their ponies around and over jumps and obstacles. Rosettes will be awarded and photos taken at the end with their special ponies and prizes.

We welcome everyone into the centre to come and experience the love of horses. If you are interested in coming for a visit, pop in and see use or email admin@summerhouseec.co.uk to organise something specific.

This is a weekly club for our younger clients who are interested in learning more about horses and ponies and how to look after them, and working towards Pony Club achievement badges. We try to make these evenings fun as well as informative, and it is a good chance for the children to socialise and chat about ponies.

It is not necessary to be a Pony Club member for these sessions, everyone is welcome.

Children 5 years and over welcome from 5.30pm to 6.45pm, term-time only, at a cost of £5 per session or £4 for Pony Club members wearing their PC badge.

*New members are always welcome, and can have their first "taster" session for only £2.50.
