    News from the Trailblazers Final!

    Hi to all at Summerhouse

Just to let you know how the trailblazer showing final went for Freddie's Prospect. We qualified first and second rounds with you and won the championship in both rings at the first round. As you will probably remember he is a 3 year old home produced warmblood by Libro out of a Cassander / Rubeinstein mare.

He was Champion Youngstock, Champion Best Condition, Champion Sports Horse and Champion Show Horse over the 2 days. He was also reserve supreme in-hand on Saturday and Champion supreme on Sunday. He then finished off with reserve supreme of show.

It was a fantastic result for a breed that is poorly understood in the showing world generally and for such a young horse. I thought that you would like to know and hope that his results may spark some interest for your showing series. We came away with a lorry load of rosettes, 5 sashes, 4 spillers thermatex rugs, 2 HOYS tickets for the Sunday night and memories that will last forever. Finally I would like to say that Summerhouse was a great venue and very friendly and supportive.

All the best, Leander & Tim

    1.20m Amateur Classic HOYS Qualifier

Held at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre, Gloucester on the 17th July 2010.

The 1.20m Amateur Classic is a direct qualifier for Horse Of The Year Show and the class had a total of 112 starters with 47 going through to the jump off where 9 went clear.

1st place went to Valleska owned and ridden by Caroline Fitzalan Howard from Norfolk. Caroline had travelled down from Norfolk the night before and stayed over night at Summerhouse to compete in this her first Amateur Qualifier of the season. They have been consistant all season at 1.20m and have also been competing at 1.30m and at county shows. Previous to show jumping they evented but loved the show jumping phase so much that it was decided to concentrate on this. Caroline has owned Valleska an 8yr old KWPN by Hors La Loi since she was a 4 year old and to qualify for HOYS is a dream come true.

2nd to qualify were Millie Monday ridden by Adrian Little. The 10yr old Irish Bred Advanced Eventer is owned by David Broadhurst and has been at Adrians Worcestershire yard for 2 years. The pair mainly event but also do alot of show jumping. This is also a first time qualification for HOYS. Adrian who regulary competes at Summerhouse also came 3rd on 9yr old Intermediate Event horse Firecracker by Lugaus who he has had for 4 years. Adrian now in the lucky position of having to choose which horse to ride at HOYS as rules only allow him to ride one horse to be ridden at the final.

Steve Williams, Course Builder for the class commented: "Summerhouse Equestrian is run by a family team of Helen Gallop and daughters Sara and Rachel all of whom are passionate about show jumping - it is great that their considerable investment in top facilities have been rewarded with this their 1st HOYS qualifier."

"Caroline certainly dispelled the belief that you need a "late draw" to win a jump off - second to go she had every confidence in her mares capabilities as she stormed around taking the tightest of options, leaving everyone in no doubt at all that she had thrown the gauntlet down ! "

KBIS Senior British Novice Regional Final, Region G

Held at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre, Hardwicke, Gloucester on the 6th June 2010

On behalf of all British Show Jumping members, I would like to thank KBIS for their generous sponsorship of the Senior British Novice series. This is the first rung of a championship qualifier for many members and there were a total of 68 starters with 37 going through to the first jump off and then 18 into the 2nd jump off.

1st place went to Mark Lawson and Zimmertwirre from Blidworth, Nottingham. Mark had travelled down the night before and stayed over at Summerhouse. The horse had obviously had a good nights sleep but Mark found it a bit of an experience as it was his first night trying to sleep in the lorry!

Mark has had a 15 year break from competing to persue a career in Pharmaceutical product management. He decided to have another go at competing and about 9 months ago purchased the 5 year old Zimmertwirre, whose sire is Numero Uno. They have only been competing together for 5 months and Mark is very impressed with the horse and something from his own past experience must have stuck, as so far so good. Mark was just glad to have got him to the final let alone go on to win a strong class. Aim for the future – to keep up with horses ability.

Ed Williams, Course Builder for the class commented that the competitors jumped so well in the first 2 rounds he was happy to raise the final round to the maximum 1.20m resulting in 5 triple clears, clearly showing that the top placed horses will represent the qualifier to its full value at Scope.

Others to qualify were Rhiannon Lewis on Calcourt Luicit Liason and Julie Peake on Just For Spot.
